08:48 AM ET 04.07 | Instead of a matchup against Big East rival Louisville, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim got a plane ticket to Disney World for a family vacation after his final appearance as a member of the Big East. And then he got a slap in the face in the postgame press conference when he was baited with yet another pointed question about whether he planned on coming back next season, one that led to an angry exchange. "Why would you ask that question," Boeheim said to Gregg Doyel, a columnist from CBSsports.com. "I know you. Why ask that. Why would you ask that question? Are you going to ask John (Beilein of Michigan) that question?" "We ask 19-year-olds questions and they answer it better than you," Doyel said. "You ask a 19-year old kid if he's going to retire?" Boeheim said. "Really." "If they're coming back next year?" Doyel said "If you're going to say something smart, at least be smart," Boeheim said.

Boeheim and his team had just suffered a very heart wrenching lost and the best question you got is about him retiring? I can only assume that is NOT what he wants to talk about at that moment.

What a great games last night. But after the game cbs started to blame the refs for blowing a call. They all stated that is way the orangemen lost.MICHIAGN could have blow open the game but poor ball handleing stop their runs.

Maybe Doyel should've asked Boeheim if he was prepared to retire in light of the latest round of NCAA investigative scrutiny.

I was really wanting Wichita State and Syracuse in the FF...but I also would have hated for Louisville to lose.

April 7, 2013  12:28 PM ET

Boeheim is always a sour puss. He's a good coach but I can't stand to watch or listen to him because he is very disrespectful. It is the reporters job to ask these questions just as it is Boeheim's job to coach. Don't get mad because you get asked a legitimate question.

April 7, 2013  12:30 PM ET

Boeheim is paid millions per year. Show some class and answer the questions in a polite generic way - even the stupid questions and the questions you don't feel like answering. At least give a polite, non-answer. He's developing a reputation of blowing up reporters (see Andy Katz). You would think with all the allegations at Syracuse, he would be a little more image conscious.

April 7, 2013  01:48 PM ET

BTW, the question was somewhat disrespectful given the time and place. Regardless, I'd rather hear/see genuine responses than Belichick responses. These guys are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they respond with what they feel then they are thin-skinned classless sour pusses. If they give canned polite responses than they are boring and insincere.

It's true. The refs blew the call and it changed the momentum. I can't say Syracuse would've won if not for that call, but its hard to play against an opponent and the referees too. We know Michigan pays its players. Could it be that they paid the refs too?

April 7, 2013  05:54 PM ET

Ann Arbor took care of the refs. GO BLOW!

April 7, 2013  06:04 PM ET

Doyel put in place... Not bad at all....

April 7, 2013  07:36 PM ET

Would a simple "Yes. Next question." been as big of a news story?

April 7, 2013  08:51 PM ET

Boeheim is a smart arse.

You are such a ****. Jealous much because Michigan is the greatest academic athletic institution on the world? And Boeheim is a jerk, cheater and overall a hole.

I'm so sorry your team blows. It must be killing your types that Michigan is so great at so many things. Not to mention, you are the worst academic school in the big ten, which is saying alot since Nebraska joined.

April 7, 2013  09:49 PM ET

Sorry Coach, meant to ask, do you think that the school is going to fire you before next season. All reports point towards the NCAA finding your men's basketball program has violated just about every rule, and so I was wondering how in the hell you think you are going to be coaching next year? Was that a more intelligent question?

April 7, 2013  10:11 PM ET

Alumnus' attitude is why Michigan has NO fans outside of Ann Arbor.

April 8, 2013  03:40 AM ET

Ask a stupid question and you deserve the answer you get. I watched the post game interview and that
question at that time was uncalled for.

I'm no Syracuse fan but just the same I must point out the irony in your (a Michigan fan) accusing someone of cheating. But then again I should consider that you may not consider the paying of players cheating. I don't know how that could be, but I must allow for the possibility.

And speaking of paying players. Good luck tonight. I hope for your sake Michigan gets a good return on their investment.

I will give you that Michigan is pretty good ACADEMIC institution. Their alum are largely tool bags, but the education isn't half bad.

That may have actually been a more interesting question
