09:03 AM ET 04.07 | Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has agreed to portray the late Johnny Unitas in an upcoming film called "Unitas We Stand," according to Joe Unitas, Johnny Unitas' son. Joe Unitas told The Baltimore Sun that Flacco will play his father playing football in the final scenes depicting the Colts' 1958 championship game victory. "Obviously, the Baltimore ties are very important to me," Unitas said in a phone interview from his Las Vegas home. "I think it's great that Joe just won the Super Bowl with the Ravens and was Most Valuable Player in the game. A lot of the way Joe plays and his demeanor reminds me a lot of my dad. He's not a rah-rah guy. He throws a touchdown and maybe there's a little fist pump. He understands his job is all about winning and he does a phenomenal job leading the offense and the team and obviously they've developed a lot of trust after becoming a champion. He's an awesome teammate and great leader of the team."

I don't recall Unitas looking like Bert from Sesame Street.

Not sure why they wouldn't just hire a real actor.

But I'm not going to rip on Flacco. He's got enough haters.

Physically I don't see the resemblance. Unitas was 6' 1" and Flacco is 6' 6", why couldn't they find another player or actor similar in stature. The only thing that I have seen that is remotely close in appearance to Unitas is the way they cut their hair very short.

Got to have that 50s flat top haircut with butch's hair wax to make it stand up on the sides.

Now he'll be making more than Romo.

Unitas we Stand? Bit of a cheezy title for a movie about a great player. Should have gone with a professional actor and hired somebody to come up with a better name for the flick! Looks like they're setting it up to bypass the theaters and go right to the DVD bin.

They both have the same running motion, that of an 80 year old man.

Joe, you've got a ring. And a brand new contract. But you ain't Johnny U.

agree....and the bottom of the bin, as all the other DVD's will be shuffled on top of it.

As much of a gift as his contract was, I hope he is doing this for free.

I don't think people remember how much work (and wax) it took to rock that look. You'd have to file an environmental impact statement before you could do something like that now.

"Joe Unitas told The Baltimore Sun that Flacco will play his father playing football in the final scenes depicting the Colts' 1958 championship game victory." Doesn't sound at all like he's the actor they hired to play Unitas out of uniform. They just hired him to film the plays.
