09:38 AM ET 04.07 | Making his first start in 17 months after an arduous recovery from Tommy John elbow surgery, John Lackey faced his nightmare, a cramping sensation in his right arm. He clutched his right biceps, prompting Red Sox manager John Farrell and athletic trainer Rick Jameyson to bolt from the dugout, and left the mound with his arm hanging limply by his side. "Your heart skips a beat,??? outfielder Jonny Gomes said. The Red Sox lost, 5-0, at Rogers Centre yesterday, but if the initial diagnosis proves correct, it could have been worse. Much worse. Lackey sustained what the Sox are calling a "right biceps strain," and although they will hold their breath today when the veteran right-hander returns to Boston for a thorough checkup, including an MRI exam, they don't believe he suffered further damage to his surgically repaired elbow. "It's all in the biceps. It's not in the elbow," said Lackey, who nevertheless confessed to feeling a "not-again" nauseousness as he left the mound. "It's frustrating, scary when it happened, for sure. It's sore, but hopefully not too serious."

He was pitching well, and he worked really hard to come back. I hope he can overcome this. He's not my favorite person, but I don't wish him ill. I don't want Aceves taking his place! That's for sure!

Not to worry, same thing happened to my 96 year old great grandfather when he grabbed the salt shaker. He was back salting his food in a mere 36 months.

The most lop-sided free agent signing in Red Sox history.

I think that fork is the problem....he started sticking his fork into chicken, ribs, etc

Not the case. He lost a ton of weight over the winter, and physically looks very good.

He came into camp in great shape and with the right attitude. He pitched well and even made some really nice fielding plays bouncing off the mound. Hopefully this will be minor but its something the Sox can't afford.

Batting practice in Toronto.

13 runs, 6 Home Runs, 3 by Middlebrooks. Lester 7 shut out innings, you couldn't draw it up any better than this.

Lester looks like he means business this year.
