USC's Justin Davis making run at starting tailback

10:22 AM ET 04.07 | It is no longer rare for freshman tailbacks to start season openers for USC. C.J. Gable became the first true freshman to achieve the feat in 2006 and D.J. Morgan did it as a redshirt freshman in 2011. The Trojans' Aug. 29 opener at Hawaii is still months away, but Justin Davis might earn the opportunity to join that select group if he performs during training camp as he has in spring practice. Davis, who graduated from Stockton Lincoln High in December, rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown in 17 carries Saturday during a situational scrimmage at the Coliseum.

It's all about the -O- line!!! If USC has a good line, then any average to good RB will look good!!!! IMO, I think USC's offense will be solid this year!!! I'm more worried about their "D"!!!! :-)

LOL, thanks ICE, but there is no way that ND, has that good of a offense to score 27 points!!! :-)

This will be our most balanced offense in a few years. Lee will draw a lot of attention (duh) which opens the field for everyone else. Our OL stunk last year. With 5 RB's and getting the TE's more involved this year, the O has a real good chance to do some good things.

QB's who can move, always make me nervous. We have a new scheme, he has experience.

Uh-um. You still have the problem of a no-good HC to overcome.

Good point and if USC isn't at least 9-4 this year, then LK will be gone!!!!

It's the off-season. You wanna cut me some slack over here???

This Davis story stems from the fact that Silas Redd is currently injured due to a torn meniscus.

Redd will be the starter once the season rolls around.

Plenty of time to rehab a meniscus repair.
