Ravens eye Boldin's replacement in draft

08:03 AM ET 04.09 | While Anquan Boldin is out, a draft prospect drawing comparisons to him may be in. [Gil Brandt] is the most notable of the draft analysts who see a young Boldin when watching tape of Clemson wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who as a junior caught 82 passes for 1,405 yards and 18 touchdowns. ... According to my colleague Aaron Wilson, the Ravens met with Hopkins at the NFL scouting combine back in February and have "maintained interest" in the 20-year-old wide receiver since. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Hopkins is as tall as Boldin, but Boldin, who led the Ravens in receiving yards in each of the past three seasons, has about 20 pounds of muscle on Hopkins

Going to be tough to replace Boldin through the draft but it'll save big bucks and that was their plan.

Long term replacement perhaps. Can't see a draft pick being a short term replacement for Boldin.

My pick for sleeper WR in this year's draft: Emory Blake (Auburn, of course). The only reason no one is looking at him is because he hasn't had a QB who can get him the ball over the last two years.

Replacing Boldin is not an easy task, Newsome does seem to know what he is doing though.

As they say, this is why it's hard to repeat.

No argument from me, even though I'm a Giants fan and have a lot of respect for Reese. Newsome is rebuilding the Ravens after the post super bowl loss of players and when everyone thought the roof had fallen in.

Where else would they eye his replacement now that free agency is over for the most part.

Good point.

The alternative is that they never do replace Boldin (physical receiver across the middle) and go for some speed guys in the draft (best available, as always). Which means they would rely more on the tight end.

Pitta patter.
