Nowitzki ready to recruit for Cuban

08:07 AM ET 04.09 | Your move, Dallas. Dirk Nowitzki doesn't want it to end like this. Slugging it out for the eighth seed -- or more likely missing the playoffs -- is bad enough once. Or twice. In the autumn of his NBA career, he wants more. And while he has no problem putting pressure on ownership to find some high-quality warriors to play alongside him, Nowitzki also is OK taking on his share of the workload off the court. He's ready to hit the recruiting trail. "I've said it all year long -- this is a big summer for us," Nowitzki said. "We have to get better. We have to get some guys in that can get us back to the top level. ... If [owner Mark Cuban] needs me to recruit and do all that stuff, I'm more than happy to."

This summer is a make or break for Dallas. They've learn their lesson from giving out big contracts to the wrong player.

Yeah Dirk has few years left. Those that are coming to Dallas are doing it because they didn't get the money they wanted from their current team and they know Cuban has cap to spend.

Al Jefferson, Milsap, Jennings, and Josh Smith are realistic options. CP3, Dwight are longshots and more likely not to happen.

Exactly.Dirk may be over the hill, but he's still one of the most dangerous players in the game. His mid-range shot is basically unguardable because of his height. He's probably a good teammate to play alongside as well. A lot of players would still seriously consider joining the Mavs to play with him. So yes, go out and get 'em !

BY the looks of their current roster, players will come to Dallas but unfortunately not the right ones.

Dallas is done under Dirk and maybe under Cuban. smh
Gotta feel for the German.

I think if Dallas wants to make the playoffs they need more than what they have. Those players are an upgrade over what they have. The west overall is a better conference but the top tier teams are OKC, and SA. They wouldn't be too far behind a Denver or Clippers if they happen to get two of those guys.

I too am a Spurs fan, but it's gonna be real hard to replace Timmy and Manu. Pop and RC Buford and those guys are very bright but replacing a Duncan or a Ginobili is easier said than done, sadly.
