12:39 PM ET 04.09 | Sidney Crosby spoke to the media for the first time since taking a puck to the face on March 30 in the Pittsburgh Penguins game against the New York Islanders. Crosby has been on a liquid diet since his emergency surgery for his broken jaw and says that it makes it impossible to keep weight on. There is no timeline on his return but he will be meeting with the doctors later this week and there may be an update then. Crosby did however say he is feeling better.

Glad to hear he is feeling "better". Not a surprise that his weight is down on a liquid diet. The lack of practice and weight loss may make it tough for him to be back during the playoffs. I hope he worries about the long-term and not just this year. He is too talented a guy to end his career over this bad luck he's been having for nearly 3 years now. Truly a shame after the great start he had this year. I'm not a Pens fan but nobody likes to see a great player get seriously hurt.

Just as long as he can outrun PM he'll be okay.

Yeah - I seriously mis-spelled that one.

By the time he's done with all those milkshake dinners, he'll be about 290lbs and look like a tomato on roller skates.

Thought you were referring to Lupul

There is no doubt in my mind, barring further injury or infection, Sid won't be back for playoffs, even if it is with a full cage. I don't think SID would have it any other way. If the doctors clear him, he isn't goinig to sit it out. Whether or not he will be back to pre-jaw-breaking form is another story.

Clarification: Barring further injury or infection, he will be back for playoffs.

I'm not going to say anything about women changing their mind every 5 minutes. I'm really not. Trust me on this one, I'm not.

I think he'd better be certain. I hope that there is a different medical crew than those that cleared him last time...
Let's face it, he's still one shot from being a Lindros brother....

We all know that's not what he's getting paid to do but ... at least he can talk.

He'd still be that. With or without his teeth.

There is a different medical team. The last one got fired, because he wasn't suffering from a "concusison" that whole time. He was suffering from a neck injury/problem, and it was being misdiagnosed.

Regardless, if he is cleared to play, he is going to play whether anyone agrees with that or not. He just isn't someone who is going to sit and watch.

I would think that Sid and Danny B would want him to play at least the last regular season games just to get his skates underneath him and set up the 4 forward line for the playoffs. Just a hunch here.
