Jets coming up empty on Tebow suitors

08:01 AM ET 04.10 | Credit Gang Green for making the effort. [The Jets] have an exceedingly slim chance at trading Tim Tebow. That won't stop them from trying. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport said Tuesday on "NFL Total Access" there's no buzz connecting Tebow to another team at this time. This is an unfortunate reality for the Jets, who sunk two draft picks and $2.5 million to obtain Tebow from the Denver Broncos last year. To give up Tebow for nothing would represent a substantial personnel failure. Tebow reportedly plans to attend voluntary workouts if he's still on the roster. Rapoport said the Jets are open to keeping Tebow in-house for minicamp and OTAs with the hopes that a suitor eventually emerges.

When he gets waived, the teams will be lined up to talk to him. Sorry, I just had to stay positive (and delusional) for the kid.

Jets come up empty on every damn thing.

Someone will sign him once he gets cut for a more reasonable cap hit price. But it probably won't be as a starter. More likely a 2nd or 3rd stringer or to run the wildcat. There is also the chance that if he's willing to change positions and I don't know if he is that some team will take a flyer on trying him at a new position (TE, RB, Slot Back) IMO.

Well! They are the Jets afterall!!!

Of course no one wants him, they've all seen him play. Jets would have better luck trading Mr. Buttfumble.

Rex Ryan's tattoo puts the lie to that statement!

And the Buttfumble play was so great that it has to be capitalized now. How's that?

I have a twisted sense of humor, so I see the Eagles signing Tebow to run Chip Kelly's offense, and by the third game of the season the fans are chanting "we want Mike".

Tebow is an empty suit? who knew?

It's hard to sell the guy when everyone has seen him play....who is going to trade for a benchwarmer that will be a distraction everywhere, the field, the lockerroom, the media, etc....

Shocker!!!!

I'm not being serious. But I could actually see a team like SF, Seattle, Carolina, or even Philly taking a chance on Tebow as a backup, because they all run the type of offense that he could fit into. Whether Tebow could actually make it as a backup remains to be seen.

April 10, 2013  09:44 AM ET

Considering everyone that has has signed off on acquiring Tebow has since been fired, Jets are stuck with him.

April 10, 2013  09:58 AM ET

why would any team want to trade for, at best, a third string player that creates such a distraction to the team??

Good thought, but only if Tebow can throw the ball!!! IMO he is not a good throwing QB.

I don't see the distraction. How do you distract the Jets ? Make a good decision?
