08:05 AM ET 04.10 | Jay-Z is, apparently, on to the next one. [The entertainment mogul and rapper] has started the process of divesting his small share of ownership with the Brooklyn Nets to extend his Roc Nation Sports representation business into basketball, sources told Yahoo! Sports. ... [Jay-Z] owns less than 1 percent of the Nets, but has been a central public figure in the franchise's marketing and move from New Jersey to Brooklyn. Selling his share of the Nets is a necessary prelude for Jay-Z to obtain his National Basketball Players Association certification as an agent. NBA rules mandate that no one individual affiliated with a player representation company can have an ownership stake with an NBA team.

He'll sell that 1%. There will be many players who wants Jay-Z as their agent. He already has Robinson Cano.

He won't do it, too much work

He must have crunched the numbers and sees more money coming in as an agent.

I think a number of agents out there are quite nervous about this. Jay Z represents a new kind of model of bringing players both popularity but potentially a lot of money. I can see him bringing in a reasonable amount of athletes in all major sports.

Man, open your eyes and don't be fooled. Think one word: R-E-V-E-N-U-E. Jay-Z is going to become an NBA player agent REALLY fast. Fast enough to get every name player of every ethnic group and culture along with those who will be in his stable before they get too old to dominate. Once LeBron, Wade, Durant, Westbrook, etc. locked in, all the rest will follow.

The majority of other agent? With time and attrition, again...?

That same thing was said when Master P started up No Limit Entertainment. His plan was to sign all the top players in the NBA and NFL and have them in his camp. The only players foolish to sign with him were Ricky Williams of the NFL, and Derek Anderson in the NBA who was Master P's friend.

Ricky Williams contract was so bad that it's now use by other agent to learn what to do and what not to do with player contracts.

Jay-Z should stick with his day job.

Jay Z isn't Master P. Everything the guy has tried has been a monumental success. How could any thinking person bet against him here?

I agree. With the NBA being so big on hip hop culture its just a matter of time before all the rappers start stealing agents' jobs. Which is also when I'll stop watching. I get enough of Kanye in real life; I don't want him tainting the NBA.

One thing we wont be seeing though is Lil Wayne representing LeBron, Wade or Bosh. Thankfully. Wayne needs to go away already...

Personally I would go with a Jewish guy.
