08:06 AM ET 04.10 | While Andy Miller, who represents JJ Hickson, hasn't fully admitted his client won't return to Portland, the writing is on the wall. There are no hard feelings and no regrets, but it appears these are the final days that [Hickson] and the Trail Blazers are together, with both sides acknowledging this week that the writing is on the wall. The Blazers, who have given up the most interior points in the NBA, want to find a more defensive-oriented center next season, while Hickson -- a power forward who bit his tongue and played as an undersized center for the Blazers -- wants to start, and is eager to test his market value when he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

The guy can play but who will pay him? Who will take a chance on him?

Taking Your Talents To South Beach, Bro?

He is probably looking for a 3 for 12 mill deal or better at most 5mill per year. Not sure why Portland wouldn't pay that being that they are thin in the frontline. He could end up in Phoenix

Because it doesn't make sense, he's a great player and no back up. LA needs to play at the 4, same goes for Hickson. Shame to see him go but that's life.

I don't know of any defensive oriented centers in the league who can step up big time and help Portland into the playoffs?

J.J. Hickson has some talents, but it's what he doesn't have that keep biting him in the butt. He'll grab a board, get a bucket, but something about his game just doesn't translate into anything. He's like a poor man's Shareef Abdur-Raheem.

agree- on any good team- he's simply a back upyou have to be idiotic to overpay for a back uphe's basically brandon bassnice player to have- can step in and be very effective when neededbut don't pay him starter $

I would to have him instead of Bass.

I see what you saying he is not a great player at PF but proved his worth at center even undersized. He would be starter worthy on a few of the lower level teams at PF or if someone was traded but he would be a worthy center spliting time on far more rosters. The guy is 8th in rebounding and giving you a double double.

Teams that should be looking to pick him up cheap as in less than 5Million per year

Boston: old and bad at rebounding. He could flourish as a center with them next year
Atlanta: bad at rebounding and he could probably start at PF or center depending on Josh Smith leaving
Phoenix: They need help just about everywhere
Rockets: He probably could start on this team next year at PF

The rest I don't think would be willing to get him at the moment or probably would not be able to afford him.

Decent talent but his downside is all between his ears. Agreed he is a backup at best. I mean c'mon, if he couldn't hang with the Cavs... just sayin'..
