Bryzgalov on potential buyout: "I don't care."

12:55 PM ET 04.10 | Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov has started nearly all of the games for Philly this season, yet could fall victim to an amnesty buyout this summer. With the Flyers trying to get under a lowering cap for next season, and with Bryzgalov suffering through the worst statistical season of his career, logic says the goaltender could see the team buy out his expensive contract once the season ends. The outspoken netminder stated on Tuesday that he doesn't care about such speculation and refused to talk about something he can't control. "I can't read the people's mind," said Bryzgalov. "I can't project things what they're thinking, that's why I'm not worried about things I can't control."

LOVE that pic of him. He looks like he doesn't give a ****.

When asked if he'd enjoy his off day by heading to the Beach on Long Island, the Russian was quick to make light of the situation.

"You can call it whatever you want, but it's not a beach," he told reporters. "A beach is somewhere in the Caribbean, somewhere in Florida where it's warm and you can swim. Here is dark water."

Love this guy!

He's looking a little backed up on the bench there.

If he's being quoted accurately, he's right. He hasn't had much of a defense in front of him for a while now. He's right about beaches too! :)

And right about not caring.

Think of the buy out cash he'll get.

Then he can go those real beaches.

I just don't see how Holmgren stays on as GM if he buys out Bryz and leaves the Flyers with Mason and a goalie to be named later as backup. But, they'll peddle their excuses about too many defensemen with injuries and if only Chris Pronger wasn't hurt...blah, blah, blah. These are the things a good GM is supposed to plan for (as much as possible).

Just another victim on the long list of goalies who've seen their careers end in the crapper. For whatever reason, Philly has that effect on goalies. The Pelle Lindbergh curse?

The saving grace for Holmgren is he drafts and trades well. For every stinker, he can look to Briere, Read, Couturier, Giroux, Hartnell, Pringer, Meszaros,Timmonen, Schenn, Voracek... Yes, he has made some mistakes, but this club is still set for the near future when you look at their core.
