Cardinals not interested in JaMarcus Russell

01:25 PM ET 04.10 | Despite reports to the contrary on Tuesday, the Arizona Cardinals do not have interest in JaMarcus Russell, according to Mike Jurecki. Russell was drafted by the Oakland Raiders with the No. 1 overall pick in 2007, but lasted just three years in Oakland before his release. Russell has since been out of football. Arizona's reported interest in Russell made sense. Despite trading for Carson Palmer from Russell's old team, the Oakland Raiders, Arizona still has big issues at the position. Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley are Arizona's second and third-string quarterbacks, so the Cardinals could stand to add competition at the position. The latest reports indicate that the Cardinals are not interested, however. In three seasons with Oakland, Russell completed just 52.1 percent of his passes for 4,083 yards, 18 touchdowns and 23 interceptions. Russell fumbled the ball 23 times.

If anyone is they probably won't admit it until they sign him.

QUOTE(#1):

The Cardinals don't want to win.

No, the Cardinals don't care if they win. If they wanted to not win, they'd be all over JaCarcass like flies on dung.

They could keep it a secret and give him a jersey that says "Haynesworth" on it.

Showing up at 310 lbs probably doesn't help.

They should really re-assess the front office then in Arizona. Why on Earth wouldn't you want a fat, overweight, lazy quarterback who hasn't played ball in a few years and couldn't throw it even when he was in the league and is about as dumb as a box of rocks? Seems like it would be a shrewd pick-up to me.

100% accurate.

The original interest was there because they thought he wanted to try out for the offensive line.

In all fairness, JaMarcus is probably not interested in the Cardinals, either

But, doesn't he know it's a dry heat?

How about the Jets? They seem to be accumulating so called quarterbacks these days?

Why would anyone want Russell when Vince Young and Pat White are still available? The Cards are probably holding out for Tim Tebow if / when the Jets cut him.
