Former top QB Kiel picks Cincinnati

06:20 PM ET 04.10 | Gunner Kiel has finally picked his next - last? - college destination: he'll enroll at Cincinnati after transferring from Notre Dame.

Kiel's story is one of the most prolonged recruiting tales imaginable. A can't miss pro-style QB prospect considered by most to be the top signal-caller in the country, Kiel committed to Indiana. Then LSU. Then Notre Dame. Then actually enrolled with the Fighting Irish, but after Everett Golson earned the starting gig as a freshman last year, Kiel decided to leave after realizing he'd be a backup for at least the first three years of his college experience.

So it's on to the Bearcats, where he'll play for Tommy Tuberville - who also earned a reputation for having commitment issues after bailing on Texas Tech for the Cincinnati job. Starter Munchie Legaux will be a senior next year while Kiel sits due to transfer rules.

There is still time for the young man to reconsider his choice. He may yet play for UTk.

As I said earlier...this kid made Les Miles look like a genius when he talked about him not having the heart to play for LSU. This kid has no heart....no loyalty...no competitiveness. Another Ryan Leaf in the making. I don't know who is advising this kid, but they are letting him ruin his career.

April 11, 2013  09:13 AM ET

Can't this kid just pick a school and stick with it? What, he's going to transfer every time he gets beat out for the starting position? Ya think he was probably not starting for a reason?

April 11, 2013  09:50 AM ET

He gonna be coached by The Riverboat Gambler!!! Woohoo!!!

Well, I knew this line of attack had a short shelf-life. Just didn't want to leave the field in full retreat.

April 11, 2013  10:47 AM ET

chances are he would have never seen playing time if golsen stays all 4 years plus who's to say kelly wouldn't want to rebuild with a younger quarterback that he know would be there longer.

why didn't he do this from the beginning? he knew ahead of time that he would be 2 or 3 back.

April 11, 2013  11:23 AM ET

He won't do anything, anywhere... He's a nobody.

A little early to be so sure of that.
