08:06 AM ET 04.11 | With the 11th pick in the NFL draft later this month, the Chargers may be looking at taking an athletic left tackle to fill a need. Or, perhaps, they'll go the veteran route. San Diego reached out Wednesday to the representation of Bryant McKinnie, the latest of a "couple general discussions" between the two sides, a source said. The former Ravens left tackle helped key Baltimore's Super Bowl run this past year, starting all four playoff games after working as a reserve in the regular season. No deal is imminent. No visit to San Diego is planned. Pursuit of McKinnie, who turns 34 in September, could turn more heated should the team not find a starting left tackle during the April 25-27 draft.

The draft is where you get guys who you can develop into starters. Not too many are ready for prime time when they show up in training camp.

Is there a 6 foot 7 McKinnie we might get this one confused with? Otherwise why even mention his height? Everyone in the NFL and nearly all fans already know he's tall.

McKinnie was a revolving door at tackle during his last couple of seasons with the Vikings.

It's angular momentum. Once you get him spinning, it's hard to stop.

Evidently you are not watching closely. Looking like they will be better next year than last.
