Bengals release Jason Allen

01:29 PM ET 04.11 | The Cincinnati Bengals released cornerback Jason Allen on Wednesday, saving more than $3 million in cap space for 2013. Allen will count $500,000 against Cincinnati's 2013 cap because of his signing bonus. The Bengals signed Allen to a two-year, $8.2 million contract in 2012. However, injuries plagued Allen in his short tenure in Cincinnati, as the former Tennessee Volunteers defensive back played just three defensive snaps in 2012 -- and only appeared in four games. Allen's base salary of $3 million coupled with his inability to stay on the field last year made Cincinnati's decision a relatively easy one -- especially after the team re-signed Adam Jones and Terence Newman. Allen will likely have to settle for an incentive-laden, one-year deal -- especially since this year's free-agent cornerback market has been depressed.

He could be a nice pick up for league minimum and a couple incentives.

Mike's gonna have to break down and re-sign Andre Smith. Can't let him get away!
