08:05 AM ET 04.12 | Perhaps, after all, there is a place for Vince Young in Oakland. On the heels of an impressive showing at the University Texas Pro Day late last month, the Raiders followed through on ["preliminary" conversations about bringing in Young for a workout] Thursday. Young and former Baltimore Ravens backup Troy Smith both auditioned for the Raiders, Rapoport reported. "Heard Vince looked good," Rapoport added. Young will have to prove that he's made strides in accuracy and picking up NFL verbiage, but he does have the rise of the read-option offense in his favor as he attempts his comeback. The Raiders opted to take a pass on signing Seneca Wallace as a backup quarterback, perhaps due to their interest in Young.

If I were looking for a read-option QB... I would have to consider Vince. I'm not his biggest fan (or - for that matter - a fan at all) but the dude is clearly one of the best read option QB's that has ever played.

Young impresses Raiders? This coming from a team who thought JaWalrus Russell was going to be a superstar.

This sums up VY. Stuff ya just cannot make up:

" Once, Vince bought 120 seats out on a Southwest Airline flight because he wanted to travel alone. The 10 additional seats on the 130-seat flight were already purchased so he still had to travel with a few commoners who now probably have a larger net worth than he does."

Everyone deserves a second chance but, how many has VY had already?

Here is potential irony in the making: Vince Young beats out Matt Flynn in training camp for the starting position.

Ive been a raiders fan since the days of the Snake.. and just find the current circus they have been going through to be disgusting... Vince Young was cut for one reason.. he sucks... Flynn has had one great game in the NFL and made a career out of it.. Let Prior start..give him his shot at it..
improve the O line in front of him.. Recievers and Mcfadden should be fine.. no circus.. no fuss and if Prior cant do it.. then you can get the circus tents out... tired of one of the best teams ever resorting to this kind of crap !!!

I don't understand dumping Carson and bringing in Wonderlick!

I liked them too, way back when. Stabler to Biletnikoff is still my all-time favorite passing duo.

But, after the Darryl Stingley injury and the subsequent departure of John Madden, I lost interest and respect for the whole organization. Maybe in the post-Davis era they can evolve into something more than Jets West, but we'll have to see.

They bought a pig in a poke, just like Seattle did. It makes sense for them to have multiple options in case Flynn does the same disappearing act he did in preseason last year.

Matt Ryan would just love that...

I guess chartering a private plane would have cut into his Cheesecake Factory budget.

Does about $12 million clear it up for you?

No. A second horrible decision doesn't make up for the first one. It only saves some cash. But...knowing the Raiders, they'll probably overpay VY as well.

There's a reason some teams always stink.

Impresses who? CFL scouts on hand watching his workout? This guy has almost as many lives as Steve Howe and hasn't even done half as much as Steve did (except for drugs).

That would be ugly

Young impressing the Raiders is like saying I impressed some 5th graders with my spelling skills.
