08:08 AM ET 04.12 | Tom Thibodeau allowed Thursday that, all along, it was a possibility Derrick Rose might miss the season -- something that seems to be nearing reality. "I think they were just being forthright," Thibodeau said of management and team physician Brian Cole. "That's what everyone thought. We didn't know, and we still don't know. We were just being honest. Obviously, you can look back and say that now, but we never felt that way." ... Rose has intimated he's not mentally ready to return after having been cleared for full practice since Feb. 18. At this point, him returning would be a surprise, especially because he has practiced well and given no signs of playing in games this season.

He won't be back and that could be a good thing for the Bulls. DRose coming this late can hurt the chemistry of the team. They just beat the red hot Knicks and the Bulls are missing many key players. Let the haters hate.

Not sure why woody played melo so much.I think he needs to realize that seeds are basically set and the final few games are basically irrelevant, its all about being primed and ready to go for game 1 vs the celts.....not game 79 vs whomever

Rose is not following Jordan's blueprint. Remember, Jordan returned in 1986 after missing most of the year with a broken foot. He wanted to return but CHI did not want the same. But...

His agent may not agree.

Some guys have it, and some guys don't. Rose appears to be one of the guys who don't.

Right. You should never mail it in. In a close game, you have to try and win it.

I don't necessarily agree with that. Injuries are not to be taken lightly, especially major ones like knee surgeries.

I say play if you think you can help the team but sounds to me he feels ineffective.

The main thing is that it won't change anything. Whether he comes back or not at this point he won't have enough game experience to get in the groove of things, so what's the point?

This kid will never mentally be prepared. This is the same coward who said labron is too hard to score on and his coach shouldn't had put him in that situation. Are you really surprised he's mentally not ready??
