08:18 AM ET 04.12 | On Thursday in Cleveland, Joe Cool he was not after the Yankees and Indians were rained out for a second straight night. [Girardi criticized MLB] scheduling planners for sending teams into cold-weather climates during the opening weeks of the season for their only visit of the year. "I don't think you can go to cold-weather cities if you only go there one time," Girardi said. "I think you have to stay within your division the first month. Or, I know teams want night games, but if we would have had a day game today, it gives you a longer window to play the game. "I mean, it's snowing in Minnesota and the Mets are there. I don't know who can make the best snowman."

He is right about scheduling one time visits to cold weather cities in early April. But it will not change because the computer says that is where you play.

Agreed. Yankees only go to Cleveland once? Another reason why the 15 team leagues stink: the havoc it plays on the non-division schedule and the pressure it creates to play those games no matter what the weather conditions are.

So the AL Central just plays non-stop in cold weather cities during the first month? Sounds like Joe is getting soft over in the rough and tumble Bronx.

um-NY is a cold weather city too.as is bostonit is what it is- and it can rain anywhere at any time- its just bad luck

correct. I have have a better solution but it ain't never gonna happen.

Reduce the number of teams, have an even number of teams in each league and go back to the 154 game schedule and have doubleheaders on Sundays.

Seasons will start later and end earlier and maye we don't have to have the World Series in late October or November.

True, but he says to make those early season games division games because it is easier to make up lost games because you will be going back to that city anyways.

Let just put dress on the the players.Oh they did that during World War 2.

His point is to be in a cold weather city that you only are scheduled to go there that one visit. He is right regardless.

I too agree with Girardi. Very sensible. I always thought they should schedule early games at warm locales.

Did they call the games due to the cold?

So Boston, both NY teams, both Chicago teams, Minnesota, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Seattle (dome?), etc should play only road games for the 1st month of the season?

Yeah. It all evens out in the end.
