Myers Out For Season with Broken Leg

12:57 PM ET 04.12 | The Buffalo Sabres' dismal season just found its exclamation point. Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers, a 23-year-old who won the Calder Trophy for rookie of the year in 2010, suffered a broken leg in last night's game against the Montreal Canadiens. He will miss the rest of the regular season. The Sabres currently sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, six points back of eighth, and do not figure to make any sort of playoff run. Myers will likely be on the shelf until next season Myers has suffered setbacks in both play and injuries since his rookie season. His point totals have dropped from the 48 in 09-10 but at least 10 points every season since, culminating in Myers having just eight in 39 games in 2012-13. He's also been a minus player for the first time in his career, going minus-8. This comes after scoring 23 points in just 55 injury-plagued (and healthy scratch-plagued) games in 2011-12.

Does that mean he'll miss the Playoffs too? :-)

Evgeni Malkin is OK with this...

better in a non playoff year than in one where they contend.

Better having Myers out for the playoffs, since he's absolutely awful and the Sabre's would have to make the playoffs IN SPITE of Myers.

No jokes, he is AWFUL.

Hank likes to talk about Chara being a Lummox...well, if Chara's a Lummox, then Myers is a statue.

there. to me Myers will henceforth be known as The Statue

His absence won't make one bit of a difference to the Sabres except, maybe, secure a higher draft pick.

I like it although I've seen some statues move more than Myers.
