08:22 PM ET 04.12 | If you don't think Tiger Woods -- with youngsters like Rickie Fowler, and even Tianlang Guan, the 14 year-old eighth grader from China -- don't put butts in front of the TV, take a look at the report from ESPN after the first round of the 2013 Masters. Golf suffered during the five-year hiatus Tiger took from competing on a regular basis, but his popularity is apparent now that he is back, and in contention. Thursday's live telecast showed double-digit increases in the first round with younger viewers. The telecast averaged 2,851,000 viewers with a 2.4 household coverage rating based on fast nationals, according to the Nielsen Company. Viewership grew 7 percent from last year's first round, which averaged 2,661,000 viewers, and the rating was an increase of three percent from a 2.3 last year. The rating peaked at a 2.7 from 5-5:30 p.m. ET. ESPN's telecast also saw a 16 percent rise in the Male 18-34 demographic, averaging a 1.4 rating vs. a 1.2 for last year's first round, and a 15 percent rise in the Male 18-49 category.
