10:06 AM ET 04.13 | Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Eddie Jordan is engaged in serious talks with Rutgers University about becoming the embattled basketball program's next head coach, sources told Yahoo! Sports. In the aftermath of the scandal surrounding former coaches physically abusing players in practices, Rutgers offered Jordan the job after University of Rhode Island coach Danny Hurley turned down an offer from the school earlier this week, sources said. Jordan will meet with Rutgers officials face-to-face, sources said, this weekend to try to finalize an agreement. A Rutgers alumnus, Jordan played for the school's 1976 Final Four team and has strong backing from influential alumni and trustees, including NBA commissioner David Stern.

Considering that Kobe is probably out the rest of the season for the Lakers, you may be right.

Eddie Jordan would be a great hire for Rutgers. His performance as coach of the Wizards is underappreciated. Would love to see him get another shot to be the head guy somewhere.

It is a tough act to follow... Eddie will have a microscope on him and his interactions with the players. Rutgers is not a good place for nice guys these days...

If he is just a normal coach and actually wins games (a winning record), he should be okay

If EJ leads Rutgers to a winning campaign, he can beat the crap out of slackers.
