01:00 PM ET 04.13 | Pittsburgh Steelers restricted free agent Emmanuel Sanders signed an offer sheet with New England this week worth $2.5 million. The Steelers organization is torn about matching the deal and retaining him, or letting him walk and accepting the Patriots' third-round draft pick as compensation, according to ESPN's John Clayton. Sanders is coming off the best season of his career; the three-year veteran caught 44 passes for 626 yards and a touchdown in 2012. He started seven games for Pittsburgh and appeared in all 16 regular-season contests, both of which were career highs. Over the course of his professional career, he has racked up 1,290 receiving yards. The offer sheet from New England is for just one year, though it could lead to a long-term agreement with the Patriots should the Steelers decide to move on without him. Pittsburgh had given Sanders an original-round tender worth about $1.3 million prior to the offer sheet he received from New England.

It'll kill you if he becomes a star with NE. Match the NE offer.

Kill them how?

What's wrong with using that 3rd-round pick to draft a less expensive replacement who will actually remain with the team the following season?

I mean... how difficult is it to replace a guy who has only caught 5 touchdowns in 3 seasons?

I think if it were that easy, he'd be a Patriot now. Less expensive only stays that way if the draft pick is poor. As far as staying with the team, well that's usually a money issue.

I think duh $tealer$ should get rid of anyone that can help them win in 2013.That's not overly biased is it!?

You're entitled! LOL

Let him walk, and take the draft pick. Plenty of WR's in this draft to develop. He is Ok, but not a superstar, to take the cap hit this year, then lose him in FA next year.

In the photo, Sanders is displaying the textbook "keep your eye off the ball as it bounces off of your chest" technique that will earn him a huge paycheck this upcoming season.

I would say the cup is Half Full! Maybe Half Empty, anyway, it's 50-50!

You are correct that he is good, but not great. However, imagine how good he could be with a real QB tossing the ball his way?<gives Mangler a tiitttytwisty and leaves the room>

It appears he is willing to go with a lesser QB for more money and no more rings...Like his Pal Wallace.

Baltimore says no thanks.

No question the Steelers offseason acquisitions are nothing less than spectacular with the highlight being the re-signing of their world class long snapper, Greg Warren and 35-year old Plaxico Burress.

Baltimore doesn't have a real QB, just some schlepp who rode his defense and a receiver named Anquain Bolden to a title.

You got this right.
