09:54 AM ET 04.14 | George Atkinson III took the handoff and at once was flattened by 326-pound defensive lineman Louis Nix III. Notre Dame's junior running back spent the next minute off to the side of play, bending and flexing his leg to shake off a hit that drew the attention of some of the fans and coaches in attendance Saturday at the Irish spring practice, held inside the Loftus Sports Center because of rainy, cold weather. The foiled play wasn't indicative of what coach Brian Kelly called "a very, very good spring for George." He took many of the first-team snaps Saturday, along with junior Cam McDaniel. USC transfer Amir Carlisle practiced in a non-contact capacity after breaking his collarbone.

All right Van, that's the way to represent. My guys are coming down there this year, and this time, we'll be taking the Megaphone back home to East Lansing.

Megaphone? A game trophy, like Paul Bunyan's axe, etc?

As much as I enjoy cheering against the Irish, I will give them credit for not scheduling any I-AA (or whatever they call them now) teams. I am a SEC fan but most teams schedule 3 I-AA schools each year.

GA III won't get that far if the Domers' OL can't eliminate the Ole' blocks.
