Jets 'disappointed' Revis used Giants' surgeon

06:07 PM ET 04.14 | Nits continue to be picked in the saga, nearly a soap opera, between the New York Jets and cornerback Darrelle Revis. The team has held on to resentment stemming from Revis's decision to use a New York Giants orthopedist for knee surgery in October, ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini reported. Revis chose to have Dr. Russell Warren, the Giants' orthopedist, to perform the surgery instead of the Jets' doctors of Atlantic Health, the team doctors whose name is on the Jets' training facility. The rift over Revis's knee surgery is one of many petty grievances that have added up to break down the relationship between a star player and his team, but he'll still report to the Jets' off-season program Monday.

Saw that on Twitter... I guess they felt they had to keep him.

Nothing more boring than a surgical thread!

He didn't have to.

It's HIS knee! What the problem is? I had my knee rebuilt by my guy, Revis can't?

Did the Giants surgeon use a condom? He might wanna get a test, Revis is screwing everybody.

This reminded me of something, then while trying to recall it, I'm drawing a blank on the identity of the guy who said it. But, there was a football announcer who kept pronouncing Barry Sanders last name as "Saunders" during a TV broadcast. The other announcer(s) kept trying to correct him without coming right out and saying it...I guess in an attempt to be as nonchalant as possible so that he didn't exactly come down on him and embarrass him on TV. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Familiar enough to recall who it was?

Sitting here typing this out, I seem to recall that maybe it was Frank Gifford on Monday Night Football. Does that ring any bells with anyone? Is this correct? Not that it matters in the overall grand scheme of things. Just killing time while hoping the power stays on with the fairly significant ice storm that is currently going on outside.

Exactly. The man has a right to pick his own doctors.

The team doesn't have the right to oversee the well being of their multi-million dollar investment?

I don't know, man... the Jets have given Revis a TON of money. I don't have a problem with them wanting to be involved in Revis' physical well being.

I see both sides, really. But I would expect in the future that the teams will word contracts in such a way that players are obligated or at least strongly encouraged to see team doctors primarily.

Big business always wins, and the Jets are a significantly bigger business than Darrelle Revis. NFL teams will probably win this particular battle of rights.

Why didn't he go to Dr. Andrews ?

April 15, 2013  08:48 AM ET

I hope he was cured of his Draeptomania.

Well then that does it. If the Jets are disappointed Revis used a Giants' surgeon, then I'm disappointed that the Jets are disappointed Revis used a Giants' surgeon.
