Pujols barely able to run to first

07:58 AM ET 04.15 | One year after a difficult April in his new baseball hometown, Albert Pujols is off to a significantly better start -- even if he's hurting. This year, Pujols is batting .293 with two homers and seven RBIs, but he has different problems coming off knee surgery and dealing with plantar fasciitis, painful inflammation on the sole of his left foot. In the hours before Sunday's game, [Mike Scioscia] adjusted the Los Angeles batting order, moving Pujols from first base to designated hitter to take stress off the foot. Pujols went 0-for-4 and could barely run down to first base on a pair of ground balls. Scioscia stopped short of saying the 33-year-old Pujols had been told to take it easy running out infield grounders.

Oh yeah, that's worth $270 million.

I have had plantar facisticis so I do know how painful it is, and, I do understand that professional athletes need to protect themselves from an injury becoming worse or taking longer to heal due to the investment involved for both the athlete and their team but I have to wonder why, or how, Stefanie Dolson, member of the 2012/2013 UConn Womens' championship team, who had a stress fracture in her right ankle and plantar fasciitis in her left foot was able to play during the entire womens final four.

Just thought I would throw that the wall and see what stuck. ;-)

Never had it - don't want it. But the fact he's able to hit is amazing. There is a lot that adrenalin and cortisone can do.. but some of this stuff shouldn't be done...

This contract will end up as bad as ARod's. Brilliant move by the Cardinals, though they lucked out with the greater fool theory and all that. The Cardinals offer was too high as well.

Since things seem slow, I thought I would share an email I got yesterday from a friend:

Calculated risk..... the offer they gave was the max the team could "reasonably" afford without leveraging everything. Remember - ALL of baseball has greater fools.

By the way - you really didn't need to F either.... your assumed default thoughts of others will carry it's own weight.

Won a matchup in DLFL.... Yippee....!!!!!! And I would have beat exactly 3 other teams this week. It was a tight ball game....

April 15, 2013  09:16 AM ET

Any DLFL'ers here?

April 15, 2013  09:18 AM ET

I'm thinking of doing something really stupid and I want you to weigh in.....

I have 4 pitchers that are scheduled for 2 starts each..... they are "average" pitchers.....

Would you sit Wainwright, Price and Hudson, to get the 3 extra starts? They are fairly good matchups with two teams each of the other starters are projected against.

How's that contract looking now, Bros?
