08:07 AM ET 04.15 | Officially, the Avs are now out of the playoffs and ready to take those Las Vegas trips. President Pierre Lacroix doesn't get actively involved. And Joe Sacco must go. ... Just as John Elway grabbed the reins and reign of the Broncos, Joe Sakic must take over control of the Avs. Say it's so, Joe. Elway and Sakic have spent their entire adult lives and professional sports careers in Denver. If Mount Evans had two massive rock sculptures, they would be Elway and Sakic. They understand Colorado. ... And Super Joe's first move should be to hire another man who has proved himself in this city, this state, this sport. George Gwozdecky. Cap Sak and Coach Gwoz will get the Avalanche headed ahead to the future.

I would be worried. This guy was one of my favourite players, but that doesn't mean he can be so skilled in an office...look at Shanahan....

Too bad the Avs don't have a Tim Tebow. Or .... maybe they have too many? I'm not sure anymore.

Just curious, how would you rate Stevie Y's performance in Tampa?

another one of my all time faves...mixed as GM (mostly plus I think) though he has done well enough to keep the guys he has.

I don't know Spiny... I think Sakic will do a good job. He always struck me as a guy who puts a lot of thought into something before saying anything.....but when he did people listened...and he was usually right

I'd give him about a B or B-. Been pretty good on most things but made a few questionable decisions...then again what GM doesn't?

I agree with that.

That's about what I was thinking.

In Sakic's case though I wonder how much the ownership will back him in spending the money for new talent. Isn't that the big problem there? The ownership is too tight fisted.

For the Nux/Avs game on Saturday you could buy tickets on Stubhub fro $4.00.

Hoped he had found a gumper in Bishop but that hasn't been the case so far as he has struggled in T Bay...I'm not crazy about Conacher so depending on what the Sens can find with the fourth round pick he made a move that had to be done.

Tough when you are hamstrung with Lecavalier's contract...

Just don't ask him to give lessons on snowblower usage...

Not that good but he put faith in the Detroit model unfortunately they don't have LIdstrom anchoring the defense
