08:09 AM ET 04.16 | The headline alone, no doubt, is the kind of fuel that should see Kobe Bryant return with a vengeance. A couple of months ago, [Bryant] and I sat down over coffee in Minneapolis to discuss his future. I mentioned Michael Jordan, who was playing for Washington late in his career, and being there the night Kobe dropped 55 points on the old man. "There's not a chance you'll see me" like that, promised Kobe. So I guess I won't be seeing him play again. Bryant is done. He's so done I could run circles around him now. ... [TO: Gary Vitti, Lakers' trainer:] I heard you talk about Kobe's rehabilitation. You said, "The best thing you could do for us as the media, is say things like he can't do it. And that will force him to do it." I've offered my best encouragement here, Gary.

I am sure that DA's great coaching of running Kobe out there for 46-48 minutes a game didn't help in the breakdown of Kobe's body.

I find it hard to believe that he could not run a lineup out there for 6-10 minutes a game that could have given Kobe a rest. Well DA, let's see you run your magic with an old arse team and 2 big men when all you want to do is shoot fast and consider postups as wasted possessions.

DA ran Amare into the ground as well. He's an idiot and if you think he is the answer in LA then you might be one too.

He is the answer, but the answer for every other team in the NBA.

Kobe has his critics for sure, but it would suck to see an all time great go out like that...I hope he can come back just to prove his doubters wrong

He'll be back. He'll at least try to pass Jordan in points. But will he be selfish to the team? He can help the franchise rise up again by giving the go ahead sign to amnesty him. He saves the franchise $80 million and allows them to sign some young players to help the team moving forward. He can come back after 1 year and sign a 2 year contract.

The Rockets will be fighting for a seeding tomorrow. They don't want the 8th seed. The only way they get the 8th seed is to lose to the Lakers.

QUOTE(#12):

I was reading a Minneapolis newspaper and they mentioned Karma with respect to this injury and his Colorado past. I was shocked to see it in a major newspaper but had to agree. He's done as a superstar. His age and number of miles on those legs almost guarantee his career is over.

without even mentioning karma, your last sentence is enough. This article points out how hard it is to come back from that injury.

If LA wins then they get 7th seed and Rockets get 8th. Rockets has a chance for 6, 7, or 8th seed.

QUOTE(#14):

Just read another article from a site called ultimate Rockets and if they lose to the Lakers they become the 8th seed and the Lakers the 7th.

here we go

HOUSTON: The Rockets can finish anywhere from No. 6 to No. 8 in the West. Here???s how:

They climb to No. 6 if: They beat the Lakers in their season finale and the Warriors lose in Portland. Houston won the season series with Golden State 3-1.

They stay at No. 7 if: The Warriors win their season finale in Portland. The Rockets would be unable to catch Golden State in the standings.

They fall to No. 8 if: They lose to the Lakers in their season finale on April 17. With a victory, the Lakers would tie the season series with Houston and, by virtue of the next tiebreaker (record against conference foes), would leapfrog Houston. In that scenario, the Warriors would be the No. 6 seed, the Lakers would be the No. 7 seed and the Rockets would be the No. 8 seed.

QUOTE(#13):

According to what I read, the ONLY seed the Lakers can get is the 8th.

They would have identical head-head and overall winning percentage. However, the Lakers have the better conference record making them the 7th seed and Rockets 8th.

Damn......tell me how you really feel

Sorry, lost it. But, trust me, you think Woody mismanages Melo's minutes....wait til you get a load of this guy. I think DA was also Dusty Baker's pitching coach in how to manage Kerry Wood and Mark Prior's innings limits....
