Moreno's nightmare: Scioscia in Dodger blue

08:10 AM ET 04.16 | If "Arte is angry," that may be partially his own doing. It was Moreno who orchestrated the Angels' mammoth free-agent signings of first baseman Albert Pujols and outfielder Josh Hamilton the past two off-seasons. ... Pujols and Hamilton are tremendous players, but like most superstars, they're also individualists. The loss of right fielder Torii Hunter as a free agent arguably left the Angels without a leader. ... The starting pitching, for now, is a more significant issue. ... Yes, Moreno would pay dearly if he wanted to dismiss [Mike Scioscia], but he just paid the Yankees $28.1 million to take Vernon Wells. If I was Moreno, I'd be more worried about Scioscia resurfacing quickly with the Dodgers.

As a Dodger fan I think it would be a major upgrade for the Dodgers . Mattingly is a softy that continues to get out managed in the late innings of ball games.

Relax Artie, any team that gets to play the Astros 18 times is a playoff contender.

Yeah, but there are 3 other teams that also get to play the Astros 18 times.

Don't tease the Dodger fans like this.

April 16, 2013  10:54 AM ET

The Dodgers would hire Mike for something in a heart beat. But I don't think Artie is willing to eat that contract quite yet.

Exactly, and two wild card spots. I expect all wild cards to come from the AL West for years.

Do a 3 way sending Leyland to the Dodgers, Mattingly to the Angels and Sciocia to Detroit !!

I wouldn't mind that.

The lead in to this thread on the web site read "Angel Owner's Dread". I looked quick and thought it said Angels Owner Dead. Got to slow down ha ha.

If the Angels feel that they no longer need the services of Mike Scioscia I'm sure there are many teams that would love to bring him aboard.

If Arte were smart he'd arrange a trade, and Ted Lilly won't do! How about Either? Straight up. Then name Giants 3rd base coach Tim Flannery as the next Angels manager, not sure Tim would want the head ache though.

Keep dreaming, wild card will come from Central, either Cards or Reds.

the angels did nothing to resign HUNTER, they did nothing to purge their pitching coaching staff, did nothing to purge their hitting coach staff, the halos lose haren and Santana and aside of that the acdition of vargas and hanson blanton, have been the worse pitchers in the halos rotation,

April 16, 2013  01:22 PM ET

No team can win without a solid and tough rotation pitching, and no team can win games with a soft offense, angels offense have been a free swingers and that always ended one way,,full strikeout in three pitches, or grounded ball to any corner!!

April 16, 2013  01:26 PM ET

the angels hitters had forgotten about the very basics, patience selectivity and discipline, and no hitter can't get to first base if they can't even work a single walk, every starter that halos hitter had been facing in every game had pitched at to the 8 inning with the LOWEST pitching count wonder why??because halos hitters are free swingers and can't wait to go back to their bench!!!

April 16, 2013  01:27 PM ET

Angels management will ride this month out hoping Puljos and Hamilton will start producing. Who would of thought that 2 weeks into season Angels and Astros would have identical records. Weavers injury doesn't help even with Weaver in rotation didn't help. angels must improve or changes may take place by May.

April 16, 2013  01:35 PM ET

Arte moreno has had very higher expectation ever since he bought the franchise back in the 2002, with MIKE SCIOCIA as the primary manager except the franchise halos team has been lacking in a serious and creativity GM,their farm system has been dry out in the last 4 years or so, a farm system where top prospects are missin by higher margin,

April 16, 2013  01:39 PM ET

Last year albastros APRIL was only a warning about the angels future,PUJOLS wasn't the answer, this year HAMILTON is not the answer as well, the team have plenty quality players all over around right now same as last year,,except the piching coach and the hitting coach had not been doing their job,

April 16, 2013  01:42 PM ET

it wouldn't be any surprise IF the owner and the GM make a major cleanup in their coaching staff, a COMPLETE PURGING its about to happen, when can this changes would occur?? nobody knows but for sure, it could be next month or three months from now, but surely some heads are about to rolling, its sad but MIKE SCIOCIA'S job is no longer safe at all!!
