Tuck no longer cares whether Cruz shows

07:54 AM ET 04.17 | It was only last week that Justin Tuck said he hoped to see Victor Cruz for the start of Big Blue's offseason program. But when the star receiver -- who has not yet signed his first-round restricted free agent tender -- did not show up at the Giants facility Monday, Tuck was not surprised or bothered. "I don't think anybody hoped that he's not there. So that's what I meant by that," Tuck said. "Victor has to do what Victor thinks is best for Victor. And he doesn't have to answer to anybody else. ... At the end of the day, I don't care if he misses all the workout program. As long as he's there on -- What day do we open up? -- that Sunday. Whatever day that is, if I see No. 80 with the New York Giants, then I'm cool with that."

What did I say in the earlier thread? That there wouldn't be any news until the whiners and complainers start their holdouts?

And so it begins...

This is one of those rare time where the whiner is justified. Cruz is a high character, high production, low age, low maintenance WR. Its the Giants org fault for letting it get to this point (procrastination bites you in the butt every time).

Yo... Cruz is making around 2.3 million this season..... I'm shocked that's twice the most he's ever made.

April 17, 2013  08:13 AM ET

If Cruz has an mediocre season like last year, I wouldn't be surprised to see the giants cut ties.

The word you're looking for is " Eyjafjallajokull."

Phonics worked for me!

Looks like Tuck forgot to take his Adderall today.

Hold out, "train" on your own, report late and out of shape, pull a muscle trying to go full speed, go on PUP, have a sub-par season. It's a familiar cycle that I hope Cruz does not repeat.

April 17, 2013  08:58 AM ET

And doesn't Tuck hold out every season too ?

Nah! That was Osi. Justin was just glad he was not called in to have his contract negotiated downward.

April 17, 2013  09:04 AM ET

Just bring us another Superbowl and I'll be happy!

April 17, 2013  09:04 AM ET

You know what, I don't care either. I hope he gets injured doing his stupid dance somewhere, before he signs his tender.

OR... the Mike Wallace approach, hold out , report late, do not know the playbook or new offense, drop a lot of passes, be distraction on the team, have a sub-par season, and get a $60M dollar contract....

It's a wonderful world, isn't it?

We're getting a Subway in town! I'd bet they don't know the history of that location. It's a "death shop." A video rental place. A dry cleaner. A phone store. All gone.

Good luck with your sandwiches, Justin.

How low maintenance are you if you are already proving to be a distraction? Albeit a small one, but by teammates having to answer questions about you, a distraction none the less. Just get in camp and work out your deal from there. Holdouts normally get injured due to missing all the "camps".

The veterans are always looking to get out of all or part of training camp.

Yeah, but this isn't some grizzled 40-year-old guy whose old bones ache every time he has to get down from his tractor. Cruz is a young man in the prime of life, and he's just had 3 1/2 months off. He should be waiting in the parking lot for them to open the gates for training camp. Unless he wants to start next year's vacation the first week of January, too, he should know that success begins with preparation.
