08:04 AM ET 04.17 | A.J. Ellis concedes he's "taken a beating publicly" in the aftermath of Zack Greinke's injury, and it weighs on him. [Ellis] is hauling around a heavy dose of guilt along with a mask and shin guards in his Dodgers equipment bag. "That's probably the hardest thing I've had to live with since the incident," Ellis said during a quiet moment before the Dodgers and Padres tangled again Tuesday evening. "Could I have done something different?" ... [Greinke] and Ellis have spoken a couple of times on the telephone. "He actually apologized to me for not telling me ahead of time that there was potential for a personal vendetta," Ellis says. "Everything I heard from the Padres players afterward was that this was destined to happen."

Just that the guy thinks it is always on purpose every time he gets hit and Greinke had hit him a few times before.

Pretty much. Hit him in 2008 and 2009.... the guy crowds the plate and Grienke throws inside. So if that is what is meant by "destined to happen".... o.k...

Really A.J ?? I"m sure the 147 mill the Dodgers gave Greinke will help him heal nicely . As a Dodger
fan living in the east coast I am terribly haunted and disturbed to to stay up late at night watching a quarter of a billion dollar payroll team struggle to score more than a run a game and get smoked again By the Padres .

Pretty stupid attitude for a guy who crowds the plate. Yeah, Ellis should have been trailing him out to the mound but as Greinke said, he could have given Ellis a little warning. It is what it is.

Only the Marlins are worse in runs scored.

There ya go. A lot of hitters are almost asking to get hit. They wear body armor out there, crowd the plate, dig in, take a lot of time between pitches. Drysdale , Gibson and a lot of other pitchers from days gone by must cringe to see these batters today.

UNFUN fact if your a Dodger fan :

14 games - 39 total runs scored - second worst only to Marlins

Team total payroll for this year- Dodgers $ 221,867,195 Marlins - $ 32,121,900

Matt Kemp 20 mill a year Dodger captain - .185 avg 0 hrs 4 RBI's 17 k's in 14 games

Funny thing Carlos has been hit like 117 times and never charged the mound. Look at the tape, after getting hit he looks at the mound but does not immediately charge. Neither the catcher or Ump make a move to stop him because he was heading for first base until Greinke popped off and that is when Carlos charged for the mound. Too bad Greinke was not smart enough to side step a charging bull.

Zack Greinke doesnt like people trailing him. He is afraid of shadows and that one will try to steal his hair

True story. Plus the conversation he had with Ellis afterwards says it all. He knew there was bad blood with Carlos from the first pitch and he still "let one get away" and then acted like a tough guy afterwards. I don't like Quintin one bit, but am tired of everybody acting like Greinke was the choir boy in this mess.

Only thing Ellis can do now is take the metal pill.

I don't like either player. But what I really don't like is the way Carlos acted. And he only got eight games. To me it looked like Carlos was suggesting that Grienke did it on purpose, and Greinke basically told him that that was a load of s#$%. Then Carlos charged the mound. It doesn't look one bit like an intentionally beaning, and the fact that Carlos hangs right on top of the plate, I think he should take what comes with the territory of being able to reach the other side of the plate. He should have taken his base, but, instead he had a meltdown. For that reason alone, I think he should have had a more severe suspension. I know the history between the two, but I truly think that at that moment of time in a close ball game, that wasn't the pitch he wanted to throw. Unfortunately for Grienke, past comments of his came came back to bite him on the ****.

I was under the impression, AJ was getting flack for not tackling Quentin, ala Whiteside on Polanco???

dodgers catcher shouldn't fell himself any accountability regarding greinke's injury, not like the catcher sended quentin to the mound!!

best thing for the catcher?? not to interfere with the hitter's grudge against the pitcher,,,

the dodgers already have take their precautions just in case,, their regular catcher suffers from depression,,,

quentin has been hit 56 times when at the batter box, know why he gets hit often?? because he is always diving into the batter's box!!
