03:54 PM ET 04.17 | The NHL has suspended Montreal Canadiens forward Ryan White five games for his hit on Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Kent Huskins, the league announced Wednesday. The Department of Player Safety requested an in-person hearing with White, which enabled discipline in excess of a six-game suspension. The league ruled that White acted recklessly when hitting Huskins. It was determined that he emphasized his force upwards, which resulted in Huskins' head being the principle point of contact. Huskins did not appear to alter his positioning, which placed the onus on White to administer to a clean check.
