05:08 PM ET 04.17 | Bob Bowlsby sidestepped the debate about whether college athletes should be paid a portion of the money they earn the schools they play for, but still made it clear he's no fan of the concept.
"Football players don't work harder than swimmers do. Track athletes work just as hard as basketball players," Bowlsby said. "There's a place you can go to get paid to play. There's a lot of places. If that's your motivation, you should do it. "
That's not really engaging the debate, since non-revenue sports are called non-revenue sports for a reason and since there are specifically rules in place that prevent football and basketball players from getting paid straight out of high school. And besides, some feel that track athletes and swimmers should get paid as well, even though they aren't making money for their schools.
