Big 12 commish against paying players

05:08 PM ET 04.17 | Bob Bowlsby sidestepped the debate about whether college athletes should be paid a portion of the money they earn the schools they play for, but still made it clear he's no fan of the concept.

"Football players don't work harder than swimmers do. Track athletes work just as hard as basketball players," Bowlsby said. "There's a place you can go to get paid to play. There's a lot of places. If that's your motivation, you should do it. "

That's not really engaging the debate, since non-revenue sports are called non-revenue sports for a reason and since there are specifically rules in place that prevent football and basketball players from getting paid straight out of high school. And besides, some feel that track athletes and swimmers should get paid as well, even though they aren't making money for their schools.

The haves will have more and the have nots will have less. Teams that don't turn a profit are going to be in big trouble.

Yes, FN wants you to know that Bowlsby REALLY is opposed to paying players. (Above board that is, under the table stuff will continue as usual.)

"Football players don't work harder than swimmers do."

And Conference commissioners don't work harder than custodial staff or college football players do, but they get paid more. Football players generate a LOT more revenue than swimmers. In fact, they generate a lot more revenue than Bowlsby does, but HE gets paid a LOT more money. If Bowlsby thinks people are paid according to how hard they work, he just disqualified himself from gainful employment.

That's quite a big *ss name tag that the commish lugs around .

$#@% THE PLAYERS!

Uhh, don't look now, but FN has appeared to have established a new mathematical order.

The new order of numbers, per the above example, is 1, 2, 3, 6, 6, 7, 7. Y'all need to make careful note of this.

Using conference math where 10=14 and 12=10, therefore 10=12 using base math principles

Uhh, wouldn't that be

QUOTE(#12):

I watch my schools football team play regardless of who is in the uniform. The football team generates the revenue not the players who come and go, the name of the school on the jersey generates the revenue and will continue to generate the revenue long after a star player has his 1 or 2 years of glory. get real people.

sounds reasonable....

So you're saying that 6=4 and 6=5 and 7=6 and 7=7.

Hey Macarena....
