07:32 AM ET 04.18 | Deja vu in 2014? One of the biggest stories in the upcoming draft is that the 49ers have more picks -- 13 -- than any other team in the draft. They're already looking at a nice haul for next year as well. "We've already got, I believe, it's nine or 10 (picks) for next year," general manager Trent Baalke said [Wednesday]. In addition to having one pick each in the first seven rounds, the 49ers have an extra pick, believed to be a seventh rounder, from the trade that sent backup safety Colin Jones to the Panthers a year ago. Another is from the March trade that sent quarterback Alex Smith to the Chiefs. As of now, it's a third-round pick, but it could improve to a second rounder if certain parameters are met.

Look for them to wheel and deal. A championship team doesn't have a lot of roster spots available. They should trade 2 or even 3 picks for a guy they really want. Otherwise, they will end up with guys they can't keep.

Harbaugh will be doing some horse trading, that's for sure.

As smart as Harbaugh is look for some breakout players at DB and wide receiver. That team's going to be stacked for a few years to come.

The Niners are going to grade up to get Dee Millner. Especially knowing how bad the Browns and other teams in the top 10 that want to trade down in this draft.

49ersare in great shape they could trade draft picks to aquire a starter from another team that fills a need ,and give that team that has few draft picks a couple more. The 49ers could trade up or down depending on their objectives.

There are only 2 players high on the board that the 49ers would trade up to the top 5 for, one of them is as you mention is Dee Milliner the other is Star Lotulelei. If they move into the top 5 the team they trade with will be Oakland @ #3.

The 49ers might trade with Dallas so the 49ers could move up to #18. I think if the 49ers move up and trade with Dalllas it will involve Dallas's 2013 first round pick for the 49ers 2014 first round pick. That way the 49ers would have 2 picks in each of the first 4 rounds of 2013.

Right now Baalkes 1st round pick from 2012 ( WR- A.J. Jenkins ) is battling it out just to stay on the team. If the 49ers draft a WR in the first 5 rounds A. J. Jenkins will be wandering the streets by September.

Nice one, DD!

Why is there a picture of Alex Smith on a story about the 49ers? Can't they at least get a player who is still on the team?

If the 49ers trade for the Cowboys' number 18 pick, the trade will include the 49ers' 31 pick as well as additional picks later in this draft. The Cowboys need players and the 49ers can afford to trade a few later picks in the draft in order to swap 31 for 18. The Cowboys would not make any trade unless it included the 31 pick from the 49ers.
