'No confidence' vote for Gabbert?

07:34 AM ET 04.18 | When it comes to Jaguars quarterbacks and the upcoming draft, Blaine Gabbert prefers to look at quantitative numbers rather than leap to qualitative speculation. "We have two quarterbacks on the roster, so we know we have to have more going into camp," he said before the team's second minicamp practice Wednesday. True. Only Gabbert and Chad Henne are under contract, so the addition of probably two quarterbacks entering training camp is likely. What is also true: If the Jaguars draft a passer in the opening three rounds, Gabbert would have to view that as a resounding vote of no confidence, right? "Honestly, you can't worry about that," he said. "We're pretty individually motivated to go out and play our best football."

Given the Jags' track record, if they draft a quarterback in the first round, Gabbert shouldn't be too threatened. After all, they drafted him in the first round. Poop vs. vomit.

Remember when they would draft a QB and let them sit 2-3 yrs to learn the system? Now they get drafted and expected to be All Pro their first year....

Chad Henne was actually one of the few bright spots for the Jags last season. Or maybe he just looked good by comparison.

True, but the college game has changed. It is not three yards and a cloud of dust anymore. Dodge at TT threw the ball 541 times in a 12 game season. He was only one of many. They hand off more in the pros than they do in college.

Blaine Gabbert will be holding the clipboard. Nothing more. He has a serious case of David Carr syndrome. The starting QB will be either Henne or whomever they draft or trade for.

Round two will see QBs flying off that board.

I could see a Geno Smith or EJ Manuel in Jacksonville. Henne will keep them competitive, but winning 6 games isn't going to sell tickets.

I think that's the whole idea. The Sheikh wants the empty seats so he can move the team to LA.

The rest of the AFC South thinks he's just great!

Does that mean you don't think there will be a QB drafted in the 1st round ?

I haven't seen much that of the Jags lately, other than the moments they're on Red Zone, but it really seemed to me it wasn't just Gabbart. He seemed to suffer from the lack of talent at many positions. I never saw any sign that he CAN do it, either, but it seems a little unfair to relegate him to the clipboard spot already. Give him a stronger supporting cast and see if he can do it.

Nassib at #8 to the Bills. Marrone has a rager for Nassib. He's run his offense and did a pretty good job of it. And it's no sure bet Nassib would still be there at #41.

Saw a couple of them (vs Texans)... The kid looked lost as hell.

He is the poster child for QB's getting drafted in the 1st round this season.

He better hope Ralph Wilson doesn't die first.....it's a footrace. LOL

Should be interesting next Thursday. Do the Jags pull the trigger on a new qb or give gabby another year? My guess is Geno is coming. They can't afford another year of empty seats.

'No confidence' vote for Gabbert? OK. I vote no confidence.
