07:42 AM ET 04.18 | It is assumed, of course, that if David Price goes, it will be to a big market. ESPN's Buster Olney spoke with Mut & Merloni on Wednesday about the aftermath of the bombings at Monday's Boston Marathon, as well as Clay Buchholz' start to the year and the Sox' pitching in general. ... On teams that might trade for David Price: "It is a guess, but ... how many teams can pay David Price? The Cubs certainly can. The Red Sox can if they choose to do that. ... I still think the Cubs to me would be the most likely team to get him, and with the Cardinals being the team, that if they ever stuck out their elbows, because the farm situation is so deep, they could blow everybody out of the water in a bidding situation."

heard Kruk and Manny Acta discussing this last night. gotta agree w/ Kruk: Price is the true ace of that pitching staff; i realize maximizing his value in a trade is important (sometimes), but if you're trying to build a winner in tampa bay, at some point you have to keep a guy like him.

i'm not all that familiar with the rays pitching staff...tb rays fans, any thoughts on this?

If the Rays are out of it at the trading deadline the former Vandy star will be move to a contender and then at the end of the season he will go to the team that offers the most money like always.

Price is an Ace and will get everyones attention if he hits the free agency. i gotta assume that Ny might stick there neck out for a guy like price. But with that said, with such a large cost on him and the resigning of robinson cano. The Cards seem like the best place for him otherwise

the cardinals are loaded with good young pitchers. That was why they wouldn't sign loshe. other teams who might be interested in price would be the Mets, Dodgers,Angels or Texas. Brewers and Pirates, would have a need for price but neither would have the check book to cover his asking Price

forget about it.....rangers have the largest revenue in mlb right now, measured globally, and have the top prospects.....done deal he is a ranger for 2nd half.....

Rays fan here. Price isn't going anywhere this season. He has two more years of control after this season. The Ray will not be able to pay him, even though he wants to stay. I see him being moved in the off season. The team that wants him will have to cough up a lot of high end talent that will need to include a can't miss hitter.

He's not even close to being a free agent.

Oh yeah. Pitching isn't the problem. They've got 3 starters at AAA that would probably be in the majors for a lot of other teams. Catching is a big problem, and other than Myers, there's nobody that looks like a big league hitter that's any where near ready. The Rays seem to be able to develop pitching, but not much else.

The Rays will NOT trade Price to New York or Boston ... or Baltimore and Toronto for that matter.

I love trolls who simply make stuff up. The Rangers do NOT have the highest revenue in MLB - they are not in the top five according to FORBES (who know more than you EVER will)

And as for farm systems ... Keith Law, who knows more than you ever will - ranks the Rangers at 9. So yeah, other than EVERY thing you said, thanks for coming out Forrest Gump.
