07:43 AM ET 04.18 | Well, that didn't take long. Already there is industry speculation that Tony La Russa could be a candidate to manage the Angels if owner Arte Moreno dismisses Mike Scioscia. La Russa has heard the talk, which stems largely from his previous association with the Angels' Albert Pujols, his former first baseman with the Cardinals. And La Russa said he wants the chatter to stop -- immediately. "I'm not going to manage again," La Russa told FOXSports.com on Wednesday night. ... In fact, La Russa said he is so troubled by the talk that he might manage the Angels -- and the idea that Scioscia might be in jeopardy at this early stage of the season -- that he has considered backing out of a planned trip to Anaheim this weekend for the Tigers-Angels series.

.......no way a mgr is hired just to deal with a player one or two years from retirement......pretty boy valentine is the man for la la land....

The only reason La Russa was going to Anaheim this weekend was to visit with his old friend Jim Leyland not to scout the Angels.

They need someone who can guide Albert's wheelchair through the clubhouse.

if La Russa wanted to manage he would have stayed in StL. Fox sports is way off base.

The guy retired for a reason - he doesn't want to manage any more.

The media won't accept that, they'd rather drive everybody nuts.

The piece is about LaRussa saying there's NO WAY he's coming back, yet the headline perpetuates an unfounded rumor. Journalism at its finest.

Angels loss would be the dodgers gain. Mike Scocisia is a Major Leagur manager, Donnie Ballgame is a hitting coach who routinely outmanaged. Ozzie Guillen is a better choice to manage the dodgers than Mattingly. Let it happen, Mike belongs in LA.
For the Angels, bring on SoCal native and Giants 3rd base coach Tim Flannery. Tim has fire in his eyes and is passionate about the game. Just not sure he'd want the headache.

He would be better off replacing mattingly!!!
