04:02 PM ET 04.18 | Wednesday night's game between the Boston Bruins and Buffalo Sabres was able to transcend sport. Following the tragic events at the Boston Marathon, Wednesday night's game acted as the first major sporting event since the incident. The sold-out crowd displayed their passion for their city during the national anthem when all in attendance sang the words in unison as a sign of solidarity. While the Bruins ultimately failed to win the contest, they earned a point that captured a playoff berth. At the end of the game, both teams went to center ice to salute the fans.
