08:16 AM ET 04.19 | Was this the last season in Dallas for Darren Collison, who started as the Mavericks' starting point guard but came off the bench over the final 23 games? Collison said he's "capable of playing for any team as a starter" but didn't rule out returning to the Mavericks and coming off the bench. The former first-round pick, who was traded to Dallas in July, averaged 12.0 points, 5.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.1 turnovers in 81 games this season. "I learned a lot about myself," Collison said. "I learned that I can pretty much take on any challenge. It was extremely tough. But the biggest thing I did was just put the team in front of me. It wasn't about me at the end of the day."

Not bad for backup PG. thank God Mayo opted out. The guy has no heart and disappears in big games.

Mayo will get his money elsewhere, if not with the Mav's. You guys have a lot money but there are no big time SG's available. I will be suprised if Collison is not there next year.

I don't mind getting Jarrett Jack as the PG. Ellis would be great at SG.

Wow. Cuban really messed this team up.

Come To LA, Bro.

This year's draft isn't deep. This year's FA pool isn't deep. This year's available pool of HCs isn't deep.

Status quo means Heatles will again this and next year :-)

Ellis, good luck with that.

I agree mostly. The FA's that will leave their current teams are good to slightly above average. I don't think Dwight or CP3 leaves. Draft is a crap shoot, I mean the projected number one pick is injured with an ACL

Mid-level salary would be good if he says yes.

Ssshhhhh, Cavs might get #1 pick again. At least they're winning on that end.

He's alright.I wouldn't give him anything more than 3-4 mil per. There are a million guys like him

LOL, come on jgb, "I've told you a million times not to exaggerate"!!!! There are not "a million Point Guards like Collison in the NBA"!!! Darren has a career average of 12 PPG, with 5.2 APG!!! Not Great, but I would say pretty damn good for a NBA Point Guard!!!

Don't confuse Mayo and "big time SG".

That would be a serious mistake.

No confusion there. There are no real upgrades worthy. Ellis wants big time money, Mayo will come cheaper. You guys are better off trying to steal J.R. from the Knicks somewhere in between Mayo money and Ellis type money

Look at ray Feltons #s and his salary. Also, let's not forget they guy was BENCHEDSo he wasn't even starting. ....for a non playoff team? And you want to lavish $ on him? Why?

Jgb,

He will probably make 3-4 mill per. Which isn't bad for a guy capable of playing 24-30 minutes a game. Cuban will not break the bank for Collison. The other option is they can take a PG in the lottery perhaps try to swindle Jarret Jack from GSW. Jack will probably come more expensive than Collison though.
