12:49 PM ET 04.19 | Hockey Weekend Across America will return in 2014, a little later than last year. USA Hockey's annual weekend to celebrate the game in the United States will take place Feb. 28-Mar. 2, 2014. The date has been moved back from its usual mid-February post to make way for the 2014 Winter Olympics from Sochi, Russia, which will likely force the NHL to shut down for two weeks and make hockey played in the U.S. scarce during that time. The tradition began in 2008. Hockey Weekend Across America will include a theme for each of the three days, including Wear Your Favorite Hockey Jersey on Friday (Feb. 28); Try Hockey on Saturday (Mar. 1); and Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes on Sunday (Mar. 2). Among the potential NHL-featured events could be a game between the Penguins and Blackhawks at Soldier Field in Chicago. NBC will likely bring back Hockey Day in America as well.

I heard a rumor about a possible outdoor game in L.A. If true I guess the players will be on roller blades, their jerseys will be t-shirts & shorts, sunglasses optional. Again, just a rumor.

Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes on Sunday (Mar. 2).

Hawaii has Wayne Gretzky's Waikiki hockey and Alaska, I'm guessing, would rather celebrate Russell Crowe instead of Scott Gnomez...

Our Canadian friends must get a chuckle out of the annual "Wear Your Favorite Hockey Jersey" celebration.

I think I will ask for that day off next year.

LOL. For our Canuck friends hockey wear is "everyday wear" and "Sunday wear" and "Dinner wear" and "sleep wear" and "go-out-on-a-date wear" and ..... and ... what am I missing?

Some of the fanatical rhetoric I read here makes me think it might actually be a tattoo not a jersey GB.
