03:55 PM ET 04.19 | The Detroit Red Wings plan to discuss a contract extension with forward Pavel Datsyuk prior to June 20. Datsyuk will be entering the final year of a seven-year, $46.9 million contract that carries an annual average value of $6.7 million against the salary cap next season. He will become an unrestricted free agent after next year and some believe he might return to Russia to play in the Kontinental Hockey League. However, his agent states that no decision has been made on Datsyuk's future at this time. If Datsyuk is to play in North America following the completion of his contract, the agent confirmed that it would only be with the Red Wings.

But .... they can't. They took the money he should've been getting and gave it to Lulongo 2.0.

Kinda feel sorry for the Red Wings..they're gonna have to face the Bruins a lot next season :-)

Bruins are due after losing the last three to the Wings. But healthy Wings will be much better:0)

The way the Bruins are playing, you might be wishing they'd stayed in the West. ;-)

BTW, what's up with Mila Lucille these days? Is he hurt?

Ian White's $2.875 M will be off the books when Howard's $3M pay raise kicks in.

The Wings are still $11M under next year's reduced cap with Dats already locked in at $6.7M and are $37M under when he's set for UFA the following year. An extension of that $6.7M/y contract fits much nicer in today's hockey world a lot better than a lot of other teams' bloated contracts to much less talented players.
