08:32 AM ET 04.20 | Left-hander Matt Harrison, the Rangers' leading winner last year, will miss a substantial part of the season because of surgery to repair a herniated disc in the lower back. Dr. Drew Dossett, a Dallas-based spinal specialist, will perform the surgery Tuesday. The Rangers will have a more complete understanding of Harrison's status after the surgery, but he will be out until at least after the All-Star break, general manager Jon Daniels said. Case histories for other pitchers suggest Harrison could be out until mid-August. Atlanta right-hander Tim Hudson missed four months after undergoing similar surgery after the 2011 season. Hudson had the surgery on Nov. 28, 2011, and made his first start in the next season on April 29, 2012.

A back injury never seems to get fixed 100% anyway so no sense rushing back.

Harrison would need a surgery, plus a least 4 months in the DL could help him easy down the starter position's demand!!!

the rangers DO have plenty pitching prospects at their farm system, there is no reason to panic besides Lewis its doing very well in his return from the surgery back in the 2012 season...

any team WHO has a surge plus in pitching, are able to pull together a winning streak, except the halos WHO can't afford another blow in their rotation though!!!
