Mark Sanchez blames Jets for Tebowmania

01:20 PM ET 04.20 | Unless you live under a rock, you are all too aware of the quarterback situation for the New York Jets. The team has been the center of a media circus since they traded for Tim Tebow, and Mark Sanchez thinks the team did a poor job of keeping distractions to a minimum, reports NFL.com's Marc Sessler. Speaking in an interview on Fox Sports Radio on Thursday (via Sessler), Sanchez put the blame for all the distractions on the team, not Tebow, whom he called "[A] special person and a heck of a competitor." Sanchez struggled mightily in 2012, turning the ball over 26 times in 15 games, and eventually losing his starting job by the end of the season. Tebow didn't fare much better, throwing for only 39 yards all season, and not scoring a touchdown either on the ground or in the air. It's unlikely that both Sanchez and Tebow will be on the roster when the regular season starts, but you never know with the Jets.

Another Jets thread rerun

Well, if it's any consolation, the Jets could blame Mark Sanchez for a lot of things too.

April 20, 2013  03:14 PM ET

Anything about the Jets just isn't worth printing anymore!

April 20, 2013  03:41 PM ET

Sanchez needs to keep as quiet as possible. He's had a horrible run and has been carried by his ground game and D. You'd think as much as he's quoted in the paper, that he'd at least won something... NY really needs to cut their losses and cut Sanchez. (You know there isn't a team in the league that would even give up their Mr Irrelevant pick for him).

I suggest they cut sanchea and tebow. They don't get anything but cap room and less interceptions

Mark can say what he wants he locked in for the next 2 years and The Jets can't do anything about it, Good for Him, bad for them!!!

Mark, is anyone listening to something that everyone knows....

April 21, 2013  12:51 AM ET

Technically speaking Tebowmania started in Denver.

Actually Florida where he played in college. He was bigger then than he currently is now or was in Denver.

I get your point, but Tebowmania Denver-style was way bigger than Tebow's Gator era, and that's coming from a guy who prefers NCAA football to the NFL.

The entire southeast region of America (and a few other places, Texas, California, etc) experienced Tebow's dominant Gator years. The entire country watched Tebow's Denver stint.

While in Denver, Tebow went from being a college football legend to a cultural icon/lightning rod.

Mark Sanchez either lived a very sheltered, spoiled life or he's incredibly stupid. He just doesn't know when it's time to speak or shut up. Right now when you're coming off a bad year and were benched in favor of some guy named McIlroy....that's shut up time. Get in the weight room, run until your feet bleed, throw routes to your receivers until dark, study your play book like your life depended on it and keep your mouth shut until the regular season is being played and the Jets have won three straight.

He will be quiet a long long time

Rex had to say this when they traded for Tebow: WTF?

He had a coordinator and HC that understood he needed a specific game plan tailored to his tools and skills.

Rex didn't want him, and only sought to make the powers that acquired him look stupid.

Perhaps the powers are that stupid, they didn't fire the FOOTball coach.

Yeah, this is his time to speak, he won't have a microphone much longer. Rex is committed to bringing in anybody willing to sign.
