Flames re-sign Joey MacDonald

03:25 PM ET 04.20 | The Calgary Flames need some insurance in case goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff does indeed retire at the end of the season, and they already have their insurance on the roster in Joey MacDonald, who finished with a better season than Kiprusoff (he had an off year, all told, with 3.61 goals allowed per game). The Flames will make the wise move to re-sign MacDonald to a one-year deal and will have veteran insurance in the form of the 33-year-old goaltender. The Flames have a host of young goalies that they could feasibly pair with the veteran, and this was a needed move with Kiprusoff's future up in the air.

Nice but I think there'd be more words starting with "F".

Congratulations to the Maple Leafs for making the playoffs.

I hope they don't rely on Jimmy making 49 saves every game.

HC? Not even close. The usually mild mannered gentleman's darker side comes to the surface and he becomes quite animated when discussing the Flames these days. Completely understandable though.

Unfortunately it's a ''wait until next year'' excitement :0)

The Sens deserved better. The Leafs looked like deer in headlights until they got a lucky bounce.

Locked in on DAL/LA here... Stars on their heels. Lehtonen is keeping them in it.
