Will Vikings have quarterback return kicks?

11:22 AM ET 04.21 | With the acquisition of QB Matt Cassel, it wouldn't be surprising if the Vikings try to trade QB Joe Webb for even a seventh-round draft pick in 2014. If not, the Vikings perhaps could consider having Webb, because of his speed, return kickoffs to replace Percy Harvin. Webb's days as a QB in Minnesota would seem to be over.

Will Vikings have quarterback return kicks?

He might as well. He's been running for his life anyway.

Trade Joe Webb....huh?......he's so bad the Jets don't even want him....he makes Sanchez look like Joe Montana...

Sure, punish the whole team because he is a lousy QB. That will make you better vikings. Sure it will.

He's not a QB. Not anymore.

Based on what I saw in the playoffs, he wasn't one last year either.

So this will be the next place Cassel while underwhelm and disappoint.

Webb expected to be drafted as a WR, even did pre-draft workouts as a WR. Childress decided, after seeing throw balls before practice, that they'd try him at QB. The dude has speed and moves. I'd like to see him return kicks.

That too.

Wide Receiver.

April 21, 2013  01:33 PM ET

He is a decent guy. Just not NFL QB caliber. He is actually a wide out.

That's should be the new motivation for QBs to get better. "Um, son....if you don't get your completion rate up over 60% we're going to put you back returning kicks and you'll be playing gunner on kick offs. Got it?"

Agreed. It's just too bad you only saw the speed and moves when he was chasing opposing players after he threw them the ball.

He would be, if he was capable of catching a football (he isn't).

Note: The ONLY reason he was drafted at all was because of his pro day workout at UAB. As in his combine numbers for vertical jump, bench press and the like were outstanding.

He is the classic example of what happens when you let combine numbers wow you. He was a reach, a big reach based on freakish numbers and nothing more. He never should have been drafted by any team. The vikings did the stupid to draft him, now just let him go. Jeesh!

Exactly. The fact he got 3 years in the NFL at all is quite amazing.
