Can James Franklin retain starting QB job?

12:24 PM ET 04.21 | As far as Mizzou quarterback James Franklin is concerned, it makes perfect sense that he has been asked to earn his job back after an injury-riddled and mistake-prone 2012 season overrode his promising 2011 debut as MU's starter. "Oh, yes, sir, definitely," he said. "I mean, yeah, you could say that there were injuries and stuff last year, but even when I did play I wasn't performing very well. So I think I definitely had to earn it (back) and compete for my spot." Whether Franklin, a senior to be, did enough to seize the advantage over sophomore-in-waiting Corbin Berkstresser and redshirt freshman Maty Mauk as MU concluded spring practice Saturday with its annual Black and Gold game at Faurot Field won't be clear until Mizzou releases an updated depth chart early this week. For that matter, regardless of what the next depth reflects, it might not really be known until Mizzou's 2013 opener, on Aug. 31 against Murray State.

It's Misery. They've burnt their bridges to the Big 12, but the SEC haven't taken to them like they did to TAMU. They will be the red headed step child for a while.

They're the red headed stepchild because they went 2-6 in the SEC last year.

Figure out how to win in the SEC and they'll be acknowledged just like any other school. Course that's easier said than done, but stranger things have happened.

And if Franklin ever becomes as good as we thought he could be then Missouri will be one step closer to being capable of winning in the SEC.

One truly dynamic superstar athlete of a QB is all it takes for instant relevance, even in the mighty SEC.

Auburn knows what I'm talking about.

I'm shocked, shocked mind you, that there's not one post about Mizzou's assimilation into the SEC being most apparent in the selection of their season opening opponent, Murray State.

We still are......makes for some good avi's tho. Except when you lose an avi bet to LUS on a baseball series

LUS > ARKY in baseball, too......... :-(

No, my unobservant porcine provocateur, he is a pure wild boar for Arkansian footballers who just happen to lose an avi bet with an LSU fan on the outcome of the recently concluded baseball series between the two university teams.
