07:52 PM ET 04.21 | The Atlanta Falcons have spent more than a year planning on a contract extension for Matt Ryan and don't want to head into next season without having signed their quarterback to a new deal, but the team and player have put negotiations on hold for now. The Falcons insist that negotiations are going well and that the pause in talks is just so the team can focus on the draft, but they will want to get back to negotiating before long. Ryan is entering the final year of his contract and the Falcons have been clearing salary in part to make room to extend their quarterback long-term so it's imperative they get the deal done.

You can pay him now... Or you can pay him later.

But make no mistake - you WILL pay him.
