A trade too good to be true

07:05 AM ET 04.22 | On the surface, it makes a great deal of sense. It makes for a delicious discussion how a couple of annual contenders, the Cardinals and Texas Rangers, could fill present needs and fortify future lineups by swapping, straight up, two of baseball's elite prospects. The notion Cardinals standout Oscar Taveras and Texas' Jurickson Profar -- two familiar names with galactic potential -- could be exchanged in the rarest of moves fits all the talking points of the juiciest trade rumor. It must be noted, though, who isn't talking about it. The two general managers have not. They must know better. "It makes all sorts of sense and there is no way to do it," said an official with an American League team.

Dear interns;

No one was interested in this thread yesterday.

No one will be interested today.

And in case you are considering it - no one will be interested tomorrow.

Morning dude.....

This trade will not happen because Taveras is pencil in as the right fielder next year and all they are looking at as a short stop is a good defender and a .250 hitter or less.

Profar is project as a much better hitter than .250.

This trade won't happen because we said so two days ago when the story was posted the first time, and we'll say so tomorrow when it gets posted for the third time.

Maybe if the story gets re-posted enough, it'll gain some traction...

"We've seen it 2 or 3 days in a row... maybe there's something there" ;-)

There is something there. The interns are there. Unfortunately they're all asleep at the switch and don't document what they post each day.

Betran's contract is up after this year. Cards figure to let beltran walk. and will start Taveras in RF. The cardinals seem to be satified with Kozma at SS. Trading for profar for Taveras makes no sense for Cards.

April 22, 2013  05:39 PM ET

If Texas is desparate to trade Profar they will have to find another taker.

April 22, 2013  06:24 PM ET

Yankees Might be interested as fill in for Jeter now and heir apparent.Dodgers might be interested. Seatle as replacing light hitting b.Ryan. Boston maybe replacing S.Drew. Mets replacing Tejada. Pirates to replace C. Barmes. or Maybe Phillies as heir apparent to Rollins. These are teams who might have a need now or future at SS. some teams might not want to or have prospects to complete trade. Especially if Profar wants to play soon.

April 22, 2013  06:39 PM ET

What would be the point?

Matt Adams may make them reconsider that if he keeps pounding the ball the way he has been. Putting Adams at first and pluggin Craig into right might not be a bad idea. The one sure thing as far as I'm concerned is that this is Beltran's last year in a Cardinals uniform.

Both Taveras and Profar are still just highly touted prospects at this point. Kozma can put an end to the discussions if he can keep his average above .250.
