07:06 AM ET 04.22 | Of Jonathan Pettibone's MLB debut Monday, Rich Dubee said the 22-year-old righty has "a great opportunity," but he wasn't all that interested in talking about Roy Halladay. The Phillies' pitching coach was asked for his thoughts on [Halladay's] last two outings, a pair of strong starts against Miami and St. Louis. Dubee brusquely declined to speak about Halladay's work during an interview session with reporters Sunday. "I'm not going to talk about it," Dubee said. "Everybody bashed Roy Halladay long enough. Now he has a couple of good ones and all of a sudden he's a Cy Young candidate. You guys ride that roller coaster and we'll stay where we're at. Let Roy be Roy."

Party Pooper......

Well, well, well...... early riser this morning, eh?

Long story short, if you don't want to address the question there is no need to be disrespectful as long as the questioners have a legitimate question and ask the query with respect. Simply say, "no comment".
And, frankly, considering the two sides of Halladay that have been in evidence to this point in the 2013 season any questions about Halladay are legitimate.

True but how many times can you get asked the same questions and not have it get old? I can't blame the players or coaches if they never talked to the media.

Yep - I have a day off on Friday - and I am trying to get some things done before I leave with the 30th my last day.

And as far as your comment - totally agree..

I think with their unimpressive start, all the Phillie coaches are a little edgy. If Manuel gets fired ( when) the pitching coach and others are out the door too.

Dubee has a point. Everybody in press was ready to write halliday off as near done in his career. now that he has run off two good starts everybody wants to about Hallidays success.

Whatever "smokin a doobie" and halliday have been doing--- keep it up-- the METS love it!!

Ask Dubee about Cole Hamels. that should lighten him up....

I agree, the sports media is absolutely ridiculous and they acting more and more like TMZ everyday...they don't do any research (read some of the articles on this site..) and bash a guy one day (see: Tom Verduci's article on loss of velocity -written ONE week into the season!-when he bashed not only Halladay but Sabathia) saying he is washed up then when he does good they say "Look how great he is!".

While I agree with what you say I also believe dealing with a sometimes ignorant press corps comes with the territory for a GM and manager or coach. Especially so in large market areas like New York, Boston or Philadelphia. Questions like this have always come up when a long time star like Halladay trips up. Not to mention that some players, Halladay included, are in fact playing the back 9 of their career.

Halladay is done. Straight up finished.

He may have a decent start here and there but he's never gonna be the guy he was a few years ago.
