Brodeur: Devils 'quit'

07:11 AM ET 04.22 | On Sunday, the Devils made official what most saw coming -- the end of their playoff hopes, at the hands of the local rival Rangers. But it was how the Devils reacted, particularly after their efforts never really sagged during a 10-game losing streak, that was most disappointing. "You could just feel it when things didn't go our way this game, we quit," Brodeur said. "We took a lot of penalties, a lot of conversation toward the referees and a lot of things that usually we don't let these things affect us and they did affect us [Sunday]." ... "It's difficult to take," Broduer said. "We have a great hockey team and we competed real hard all year."

He signed a two year deal. Can't see why he wouldn't. He wasn't the problem this year.

His save percentage says otherwise...

If certain people in here are going to (falsely) blame a lot of Bryz's struggles on bad D, what kind of excuse does Marty deserve for the terrible D he's got in front of him?

Bryz's save percentage is even worse...sub 900!

Sometimes, some things are best left unsaid. Even if true.

And the Devils give up the fewest shots in the league per game by far...9 fewer per game than your Leafs.

Devils were a bit undisciplined yesterday. Once they got in a 2-0 hole, they started jumping all over one of the refs. I guess there is some history between the team and this ref, but they seemed to pay more attention to penalties being called than the game after awhile.

On a different note, Tortorella better get Asham to control himself or the Rangers are going to be killing quite a few PP in the playoffs. Asham's act won't go over well once "playoff" refereeing starts.

QUOTE(#13):

That has to change by next week or I really don't like their chances of advancing.Good point on the shots against NJ, but they're also top half in goals against and bottom 3 in goals scored. K maybe i'm wrong here he's gotta go.

The other goalie's numbers that also caught my eye were Conn Smythe winner Quick's save % this year...the Kings give up the 3rd fewest shots yet his save percentage is 901...maybe he's getting bored back there.

Your buddy Jonas Bustavsson's is around 880, but he does have an assist in the handful of games he played helping the Wings' offence.

now he'll have more time to spend 'with the family"

(what? you can hit one off a tee, so can I...)

I'm guessing Asham doesn't see a lot of ice , except from the bench once the playoffs start (assuming the Rangers get in...it isn't over yet)

I still think that the devils should bring miro Satan out of retirement. I bet you that that would sell jerseys.
