Blackhawks not concerned about President's Trophy

12:56 PM ET 04.22 | The Chicago Blackhawks have been so good this season it's odd to think they'll actually have to worry about earning the President's Trophy for the NHL team with the best overall record. Yet the Pittsburgh Penguins are now nipping at their heels and the Blackhawks apparently have something to play for while waiting for whichever poor team earns the No. 8 spot in the west. Captain Jonathan Toews isn't worried about that, however, saying, "???Of course we want to be the best and put ourselves at the top for the entire season, but the fact it???s called the President???s Trophy doesn???t mean a whole lot to us.???

I have a feeling that the Hawks will be resting some of the bigger boys while the reg season wraps up.

You sure you wanna give Patrick Kane free time? We all know how he spends it...

I did say bigger boys!

Most times the Presidents trophy is like "The Kiss of Death" anyway. And the Hawks,as bad as Detroit is at times, don't want the Wings in the first round.

I don't think they are at all worried about the Wings this year. After this regular seasons results I think they would relish a chance at playing them. They know it's not the same team anymore and smell blood in the water.

Only one hockey trophy actually gets you a meet with the President, and it ain't this one.

If the Nordiques return and they win a cup, does that mean that they will have to snub Harper and accept congrats from Pauline Marois?

That's why I'm hoping the Pens don't win it.

You're wise. We won it once and were gone after the first round. :(

Canucks recently won the Presidents trophy 2 years in a row. Anyone remember? Didn't think so. Stanley Cup champion is presented to the best team over a few months each spring, 8th seed could win it if they're clicking at the time. Sound familiar?

If they are smart they won't and figure out ways to lose these last handful of games and rest the team. Congrats Chicago!

Three out of four games went tied to a SO is why I say what I did. And yes, they did lose them so now they're due.

Hey, I'll take any props I can get, thanks 'puttin on the foil'. I'll be 92 years old with dementia and still remember the Oakland Seals and their white skates, a genuine wtf in the history of the NHL.
